I have had a real interest in sports nutrition since I picked up my first set of weights age 14 and started reading Muscle & Fitness magazine in the quest for bigger muscles.  Through  my teenage years I continued to gain knowledge of training and diet and the realisation that carefully planned nutrition played a huge role in the success of not only those aspiring to look a certain way, but also athletes from all sporting disciplines who's fitness needed to be taken to the highest physical level.  Since my early teens I have taken nutrition extemely seriously and have applied it to every training and competitive situation that I have been involved in.

As a 'sportsman' I have experienced success in a wide range of sports. Not wanting to be a 'Master of One' but enjoying being a 'Jack of All', I have been fortunate enough to represent my county at Athletics, Rugby, Gymnastics and Judo with trials for higher honors. Through my early to mid tweenties I devoted my time to playing and coaching rugby and retired at 28 injury free and ready for the next challenge. From that time onwards I have turned my attention to triathlons and the notorious 'toughguy' (http://www.toughguy.co.uk/)  Two very different events with different training and nutritional requirements.  My first senior triathlon was a personal success, competing in the 'Men's Fitness magazine' rough track  triathlon, where I finshed a respectable 6th.  However it has been the 'tough guy' contest that has really got me hooked.  I have now competed in and luckily completed four runs, finishing the 2008 contest in 6th place, my best position so far.  Next year I hope to have another good competition and a top 3 finish.
